My First Set of Golf Clubs

Purchasing your first golf club set can be daunting. Questions you ask yourself probably come along the lines of “Can I mix my clubs, or do I have to buy all the same brand?” "I'm not any good at goofy golf why would I be good at regular golf ?" However the only question you should ask yourself is do they fit your height, weight and are they flexible enough for you?

My first set of clubs was mixed and matched all over the place but they were the right height for me and they did have a good grip, so for me they were perfect. In fact, I had trouble giving them away and getting a new set.

If you are a new golfer then do yourself a favor and rent until you play and buy used the first time, unless you have enough money to have your clubs handmade. Then just have your designer fit you…lol. Seriously though, do not buy clubs that are bigger than your skill level and you can ask the salesmen or the store you purchase the clubs at if this is the case.

The next order of business is to try, try, and try again. Make sure you know what feels good to you. If you only practice on irons, then you probably won’t know how to pick a great wood. So try all of the clubs that belong in a set, and then purchase.

Don’t start with a training set unless it is a high end club. Most of the training clubs out there a bunk. Besides physically trying your club, learn and be knowledgeable about them mentally. Find out why different brands are precisely that…different.

There are many types of golf stores, but it is preferably you choose a golf store with an indoor range to try your clubs out on. Don’t buy a golf set because it looks cool , its disrespectful to the golfers in the world who try so hard to be great at what they do and deserve that type of club.

Ask other golfers what they think when your on the range hitting balls. Sometimes the best advice comes in the least obvious places.
