5 Steps to a Massage Therapist

Step 1: Collect informationSpa and Fitness Massage

Get online and find a program in your area for schooling. It shouldn’t be hard there are tons of programs for Massage Therapy. Find out what you will be doing on a daily basis and see if it is a right fit for your type of person. Not everyone can be a Massage Therapist.

 

 

Step 2: TrainingSpa and Fitness Relax

You will have to know the body really well, so that you can address the problems people are having with it. It’s pretty scientific, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology top the list, so take the time to study. For training, even though there are a lot of facilities, make sure you get the right accreditation. You want to be recognized if your going to freelance. It is important to take courses that are state approved, so don’t forget to ask.

 

 

Step 3: Get your certificate

Take the National Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) test because it is very well recognized and some states actually require it. The second Company to hold the Massage Therapist test is The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB), you should be able to get your certificate from one or the other. Remember to always check your state’s requirements for Therapist.

 

Step 4: Work for Established CompanySpa and Fitness

You should work for an established company when you get done with your certificate. While you are working for a business you can find out what they do to get customers, pay bills, taxes and the stuff that you probably don’t want to deal with while you’re still learning how to massage.

Step 5: Freelance work

After some time and maybe a few business classes, you might venture out to the freelance side of massage. You will make more money, but you will have to deal with sales, customer service, accounting and taxes. Plan wisely so you don’t get lost when you first start freelancing.
