Home to Florida’s most important stone crab port, Everglades City boasts a culinary style all its own. Besides fresh, succulent stone crab in season from October 15 to May 15, other signature Everglades dish include fried alligator tail, frog legs, blue crab, mullet, and other local shellfish and finfish.
Dining in Southwest Florida never tasted so fresh. Some of the best places to eat are seafood houses along the Barron River, Everglades City’s working waterfront where local fishermen offload their haul.
The historic Rod & Gun Club is another favorite, or go for some crisp-fried oysters or grouper fingers at the funky Oyster House Restaurant.
