“Shrimp” is the word that you’ll hear in nearly every one of the multitude of Fort Myers Beach restaurants. Sweet, wild pink shrimp, it is harvested by local fishermen in the dark of night and offloaded to the shrimp houses of San Carlos Island by day.
Two annual events celebrate the local industry in or around March – Fort Myers Beach Shrimp Festival and The Blessing of the Fleet.
Places to eat in Ft. Myers Beach do specialize in seafood, but you also will find a nice sampling of ethnic restaurants – Greek, Italian, Irish, and German included.
Although most waterfront restaurants are ultra-casual, some dress it up a bit with tablecloths and candlelight.
