Fort Myers’ Downtown River District is growing into a hot spot for museums, the arts, and lively events. It is home to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, Southwest Florida Museum of History, and the Imaginarium Hands-On Museum & Aquarium.
The newest addition to the area’s cultural scene, the Art of the Olympians museum and gallery has boosted downtown’s arts reputation to world-class.
A number of art galleries, music venues, the Florida Repertory Theatre, and the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center also contribute to the scene.
Check out the Fort Myers calendar of events for monthly art and music walks and other annual downtown cultural events.
Other art venues around town include Alliance for the Arts, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, and, on the campus of Edison State College, the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall and Bob Rauschenberg Gallery.
Families will want to check out the Seminole Gulf Railway and the town’s various skate parks and mini-golf courses.
