Although boating and fishing head the list of preferred activities in Marco Island, a historic museum, an art center, galleries, and nature round out the list.
The Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center, located between Naples and Marco Island off Collier Boulevard, serves as an interpretive gateway into the 110,000-acre Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. A two-story exhibit hall, daily programs, guided kayak tours, trails, special events, nature store and art gallery provide unique opportunities to explore and enjoy the estuary, a special place where rivers meet the sea.
