Fort Myers Beach Aerial ViewFort Myers Beach - If you're looking for fun in the sun, Fort Myers Beach has it all. There are beachfront bars and restaurants where you can watch the sunset with your toes practically in the sand and a cocktail in your hand. The Beach, as locals call it, is first and foremost a family place, one that people return to year after year. You can rent watercraft from the beach and take parasailing flights for a bird's eye view of white sand fringed with blue water.

Fort Myers Beach is actually an island -- Estero Island -- with beaches that go on seemingly forever. There are plenty of boat rentals and fishing charters for those who want to explore the back bays or try their hand at deep sea gulf fishing.fort myers beach Nightlife

The liveliest section is Times Square, with restaurants, shops and hotels. However, Estero Island does have its more tranquil side, at the south end, where there are fewer hotels and shops and pristine, soft white beaches. Lovers Key State Park is a popular playground for residents and visitors who want to sunbathe, look for seashells, swim in the year-round warm waters, picnic, or find a relaxing spot in the shade to read a book.

Fort Myers Beach is home to a sizeable shrimping fleet so it's no surprise that fresh seafood is a local specialty
