The Segway
What is a Segway?
The Segway PT is a two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicle. See picture.
How do you use it?
Segways are used mostly by the companies and the general public, for those few people that can afford them, as a sort of scooter. It works well on sidewalks and ramps. There are some theme parks that use them for their employees. There are also Segway tours in California. The police Special Forces trained on them in 2008 for the Summer Olympics and are also used by military bases, warehouses, corporate campuses or industrial sites. Because of there high cost they have only thrived in large corporations and the wealthy. They are not approved for medical transport nor are they approved in many states for pavement use. The most difficult part of using a Segway is trying to balance it. Other than that, you lean forward to go forwards, lean back to go backwards and to turn you lean the handle bar to the left or right.
How fast does a Segway Scooter go?
The Segway is said to go 12.5mph/20km.
When was it made?
The Segway was first made available in 2001. Because of the problems early on the segway was completely restructured in 2006.
