Things To Do
Sanibel Island is a very family oriented destination. There are several attractions and hotels that cater to children. The biggest demand for kids 5-12 are the kids clubs. One of those kids clubs is in the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa an 80-acre resort with 400 rooms. The resort actually calls their club the Kid’s Klub (with a K). The club includes kite flying, water balloon tossing contests, scavenger hunts, tennis clinics and dive-in movies. All activities are actively supervised by an adult chaperone.
In the recreation rooms flat-screen televisions, plus games like ping-pong, billiards and shuffleboard are all available for use. Another family adventure that seems timed tested is Sanibel Historical Village and Museum. They provide scavenger hunts for children, which are geared toward learning as well as just being fun.
Shelling is an activity that can be done everyday. After all you never know when your going to find that prized Junonia shell, and get your photo published in the local newspaper.
Some of the other activities to indulge in are Trolley trips around Sanibel, fishing cruises, dolphin cruises, sea life excursions, snorkeling trips, lunch on Barrier Island. It’s always nice to take a bicycle ride around the area, and meet some of the very friendly local folks. There are the Interactive exhibits at Ding Darling Visitor Center, The Bailey Shell Museum, A Zoo in Naples, The Sanibel Sea School with 1/2 and whole day programs for children over 6 years of age, and finally when you get really hungry, go to the Bubble Room Restaurant. There is plenty to do on and around Sanibel Island, so make sure you plan your time well.
