Some simple guidelines when dining on the island of Sanibel and Captiva

1. Most of the Sanibel Island's restaurants are very casual and laidback when dressings for dining you don’t have to dress up Shorts, tee shirts and sandals are all right. There are very few restaurants that are fine dining but it’s limited.
2. In a lot of the restaurants that don’t specialize in seafood, seafood is the least pricey item on the menu. I guess that doesn’t apply if you don’t like seafood.
3. It is just the opposite for seafood specialty restaurants cheap for land lovers.
4. Sanibel Island diners that like to eat before the 6:00pm hour usually will get a special discount for the early dinner.
5. Remember you’re on an island and restaurants have different hours than land. Some just open for dinner, some are just open for breakfast, and some are closed different days of the week. If there is a particular restaurant that you would like to visit, make sure you call ahead.
6. There is no smoking in restaurants and some bars.

The Southwest Florida Wine and Food Fest

If you are a wine drinker or taster you must not miss The Southwest Florida Wine and Food Fest. Wine enthusiasts who take pleasure the tasting several types of wines, pairing them with innovative cuisine and for a great cause, the benefit of local children's charities.

The event will be held for two days. Chef Vintner will hosts in numerous host homes from Fort Myers to Naples ending with a Grand Tasting and auction at Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club. Participants will bid on wines, trips, art and items you just cannot find any where else. So come contribute to a great cause while taking in a little culture.
