The type of massage you get can be a factor when choosing a Sanibel Island massage therapist. So what types of massages are out there for you to decide on?

1) Swedish Massage: A more superficial type of massage and uses oil application with rolling, kneading, percussion and circular movements. Swedish massage is also called the circulatory massage because it promotes blood flow and helps your lymphatic system. If you never have had a massage before this is the one to start with.
2) Aromatherapy Massage: Similar to the Swedish massages this type of massage uses scented oil in the air to invoke a relaxing an soothing atmosphere.

3) Hot Stone Massage: A lighter massage where as stones are placed on key areas of your body to collectively relax your muscles.
4) Deep Tissue Massage: A hard massage with no oil or lubricant that focuses on two parts of the body only. This is most commonly applied to chronic pain and serious muscle strain. Deep Tissue Massage can correct posture problems. Be warned though, it does use some firm compressions to accomplish relief.
6) Shiatsu and Thai Massage: First, Shiatsu massage is a very old form of massage that incorporates a rhythmic series of finger pressure points. Each point is held for about 10 seconds. The effects are a boost in energy levels and a balancing effect. Thai massage is very similar to Shiatsu in that it works on your energy level, but also include stretches and more movement. The movement are a lot like Yoga.
7) Reiki Healing Massage: This type of massage is a non-evasive type of shallow messageThere are more therapies out there, but these are the most common and great to start with.
